There, reminded me how much community I had the chance to meet Dr. Daniel Ferris in person and connection matter, even when someone whose research in human neuromechanics Iyou're halfway across the world. had followed and admired for years. His labs innovativeThis mix of high-level research and work on the integration of brain and movement scienceauthentic human experience has left made UF a clear and exciting choice for deepening mya lasting impression on both my work expertise and contributing to cutting-edge research. and my worldview. At UF, I worked on mobile brain and body imaging data from a long-term duration bed rest study, examining how extreme physical inactivity impacts locomotor control and brain adaptation. My focus was on refining motion artifact removal techniques to ensure cleaner EEG signals, a critical step for interpreting the neural changes associated with inactivity and recovery. This work has far-reaching potentialfrom clinical rehab to spaceflight countermeasures.Beyond the science, the Fulbright experience gave me something deeper: perspective. I found myself in a dynamic lab environment surrounded by brilliant Ph.D. students and postdocs, each bringing new energy and fresh questions. Their curiosity was infectious. Gainesville, too, surprised me. Its a small city with a big heartand a surprisingly vibrant salsa scene.
