(Not pictured: Metolo Foyet, Neha Kohli, and Cynthia Ezeh)Under the leadership of Dean Wayne and Victoria Dolce, the International Student Council was formed to provide a direct line for listening to concerns and sharing ideas for improving the international student experience at the University of Florida. Fifteen students from all over the world representing diverse degree programs, both graduate and undergraduate, make up the inaugural council. The council met for the first time in Spring 2023 and provided valuable input and suggestions to implement in future semesters for the benefit of all international students at UF.FRIENDSHIP FAMILIES PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMUFIC has teamed up with the Greater Gainesville International Center to create a Friendship Families partnership program to be launched in Fall 2023. Friendship Families is an initiative to put our commitment to being welcoming into action: host families for our international students can bring cultures together to build relationships, learn the things that make us better, and celebrate what connects us. Gainesville and Alachua County residents will act as non-residential host families for UF international students, providing opportunities for greater cultural knowledge for our students as well as broadening neighbors understanding of the world beyond our borders. Ideally, international students will find engagement and a home-away-from-home with our community members, particularly during university breaks and holidays.Photo credit: studentlife.ufl.eduUF INTERNATIONAL CENTER |11'
