Pre-approved Agreements

The templates of both of these downloadable documents have been approved by the General Counsel's office. If no changes are made to the wording, the agreement can be submitted directly from UFIC to the Dean for signature. If any changes are made to the wording, the agreement must be reviewed by UFIC and – if necessary - sent to General Counsel for approval before being signed by the Dean of UFIC.

Reciprocal Student Exchange Agreement

This document is a legally binding MOU that sets forth the conditions of an exchange of a special number or ratio of students between the University of Florida and another international institution. Its provisions address administrative concerns of either institution such as selection of students, tuition and credit exchange, eligibility for participation,  declaration of responsibility regarding housing, insurance requirements,  advertisement, etc; and administration of the program. It is expected that within a three-year period of the initiation of an agreement, the exchange should be fully balanced. At no time during the course of this agreement may an imbalance in the exchange exceed three semesters. Colleges will not be able to accept international exchange students until the balance is restored. Agreements need to be submitted to UFIC electronically PRIOR to being signed by either institution.

This document provides for coordinating academic activities between the University of Florida and another international institution / entity. It is a document written between parties to cooperatively work together on an agreed upon project or meet an agreed upon objective.  The cooperative agreement is more of a ceremonial document, and useful with officials whose cultural foundation is comfortable with a formal declaration of intent. Its provisions address the visits of faculty/students to either institution, collaborative research or teaching ventures at either institution and the interchange of ideas regarding the development of programs at either institution. Beyond these rather general terms, subsequent agreements or contracts must be devised to cover specific situations. For example, if an exchange of students is involved, a Reciprocal Student Exchange Agreement, a legally binding document, must be written and signed by both parties. Or, a unique research proposal that includes funding from either side may be drafted. Agreements need to be submitted to UFIC electronically PRIOR to being signed by either institution.
