Pre-Approved Agreement and Additional Documents

Pre-approved Agreements

International agreements or memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between UF and universities outside the United States may take many forms.  Two common types of agreements are Cooperative Agreements (a general agreement by which the two institutions agree to seek avenues for collaboration) and Reciprocal Student Exchange Agreements (a specific agreement detailing the terms of student exchanges).  Templates for both of these agreements have been approved by the UF General Counsel's office and are available as downloadable documents on this page.  Agreements should be submitted to the UFIC Executive Director for review. If no changes have been made to the wording, the agreement may be signed by the Dean of UFIC without further review. If changes are made to the wording, the agreement may – if necessary – be sent to General Counsel for approval before being signed by the Dean of UFIC.  Please consult with the UFIC Executive Director for any questions regarding these templates or other agreements.

A Cooperative Agreement is an MOU that expresses a desire or a plan for coordinating academic activities between the University of Florida and a university or other institution outside of the United States. Cooperative Agreements are often simply expressions of good will and of a common aspiration to find avenues of collaboration between the two institutions. Pre-approved templates (in English, Spanish and Portuguese) for such a general agreement are available for downloading on this page.  These general agreements are often intended to provide an initial foundation or base upon which more specific agreements on student exchange or on research collaboration may be built.  Please consult with the UFIC Executive Director for advice on the requirements for more specific agreements, or on the use of templates or models from other institutions.

Agreements should be submitted to UFIC for review prior to being signed by either institution.

Reciprocal Student Exchange Agreement

PDF/ English Word
This agreement template sets forth the conditions for a reciprocal (two way) exchange of students between the University of Florida and another international institution. A Reciprocal Student Exchange Agreement will include provisions specifying the number of students to be exchanged, the selection of students, tuition and credit exchange, eligibility for participation, declaration of responsibility regarding housing, insurance requirements, advertisement, and other issues related to the administration of the exchange program. Provisions also specify the requirements for maintaining balance in the exchange, and for reviewing balances before renewals.  The UFIC Executive director is happy to consult and advise on specific provisions of proposed reciprocal exchanges.

Agreements should be submitted to UFIC for review prior to being signed by either institution.
