International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our campus wide effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

The University of Florida is proud to be a part again of this event. The theme for this year is “Celebrating UF’s International Engagement”. Since the Gator Nation is everywhere, we encourage all UF colleges, departments, and units to join the UF International Center by participating in the week’s festivities by planning international education activities, and/or highlighting current or past global engagement in your academic discipline or field of work.

Each year, the University of Florida hosts more than 5,500 international students and 1,000 visiting scholars. UF is also the academic home of more than 2,100 study abroad students and the professional platform for hundreds of faculty working with overseas partners. We are already committed to an international agenda, and have every intention of continuing to be proactively engaged with partner institutions around the word.

Colleges and departments holding IEW activities who wish to promote their events through the International Center should contact Mabel Cardec at: mcardec@ufic.ufl.edu or 352-273-1515. She will be glad to help publicize your events through our promotional portals.

A list of activities hosted by the International Center, as well as other UF events marking IEW will be posted here soon.

Please contact me or Mabel Cardec in the UF International Center if you have any questions.
