On January 1, 2014, Dr. Leonardo Villalón, Professor of African Politics in the Department of Political Science and Center for African Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida became the new Dean of the UF International Center. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Villalón to his new position.
Registration is Now Open for UF Global Health Case Competition, April 2-10UF students can now register to compete in the first-ever UF Global Health Case Competition, set to occur on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the HPNP Auditorium. All UF students can register for free and online at www.UFghcc.org/ by April 10. Students sign up individually and will be sorted into interprofessional student teams. Students will learn of their team assignments at the Global Health Case Competition Kick-Off Event at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. The case will also be revealed at this time. Teams will have more than 48 hours to create a presentation addressing their recommendations to issues discussed in the case. During the Competition Day on April 19, teams will present their 15-minute presentation to a diverse panel of faculty judges, followed by a 10-minute Q&A period.
The first place team will receive $750, second place will receive $400, and honorable mention will receive $150. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Complimentary meals are also provided during both the Kick-Off and Competition Day. This event is sponsored by several colleges and programs throughout the UF community. Participating students must be able to attend both the Kick-Off and Competition Day, as well as be available to their team members during the April 16-19 time period to develop their presentation.
