The China Working Group is a venue for sharing information, discussing current trends and facilitating learning and work done by UF faculty and graduate students in China.

Current Activities

Confucius Institute

Confucius Institutes are non-profit educational organizations dedicated to enhancing learning and understanding of the Chinese language and culture, deepening China’s relationships with other nations and promoting universal harmony. There are nearly 400 of the prestigious Institutes and Classrooms in 87 different countries and regions. Currently, UF is working with USF’s Confucius Institute to bring its own to Gainesville.

January 2011, submitted by Kun Shi, Director, USF Confucius Institute – UF and USF faculty and staff members meet at the Harn Museum to discuss bringing a Confucius Institute to Gainesville.

UF Beijing Center

The UF Center for International Studies in Beijing, China, provides services to the UF community in four major areas: offering international studies programs to UF students, in the formats of summer courses and semester abroad; recruiting international students from China to UF campus; marketing UF distance education programs in China; and providing opportunities for UF faculty and students to conduct research in China.

April 2011, submitted by Danling Fu, Professor, College of Education – Among the presenters of Shanghai’s International Conference on English Writing Instruction are five UF visiting scholars for the 2011–12 and 2012–13 school years.
