International Education Week

The International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of the nationwide effort to promote programs that prepare Americans to live and to work in a global environment and to attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. UFIC encourages the participation of all colleges, departments and institutions interested in international education and exchange activities. The dates for IEW 2012 are November 12th - 16th.

Faculty & Staff

UFIC offers a variety of international opportunities that are great for all faculty and staff members.

  • Intercultural Communications Institute (ICI)
The UF ICI seeks to bring together the resources of the university to promote research, education and training in ways to better understand and bridge the cultural differences that both enrich and challenge us.
  • International Speakers Program

We do this by providing matching funds to departments, schools, and colleges that bring speakers to campus to address issues with an international or global focus of broad interest.
  • International Working Groups
Currently, UFIC provides a venue for sharing information, discussing current trends, facilitating learning and work done by UF faculty and graduate students in China, India, and Haiti.

One of the most popular activities is the Peer Advisors’ Country-Specific Pre-Departure Orientations, held at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Peer Advisors are current UF students in good standing who studied abroad while a student at UF.  The competitive application process begins every July.  Interested students submit an online application at the UFIC website.  This application includes questions and essays.  UFIC will selected students for follow-up interviews.
