The mission of the University of Florida International Center is to enhance the educational experience and environment of UF's students, faculty and staff by promoting a global perspective. UFIC does that by encouraging the discussion of international issues on campus, assisting UF students to study abroad, helping international students and faculty adjust to life in Gainesville and in many other ways. In a effort to promote the internationalization process of the University of Florida, UFIC has also established several scholarships and awards for UF students, faculty, and staff.
"Internationalization of the campus and the curriculum" is one of the seven highest priorities in UF's strategic plan. That goal can be accomplished much more effectively with the support of alumni and other donors.
Donations can be given securely through the University of Florida Foundation.
- Unrestricted gifts will be used by the International Center to further the internationalization of the campus and curriculum.
- Gifts for study abroad scholarships will be used to assist students with limited financial resources to study abroad. Contributions to the Daniel Sinclair Bredahl Scholarship will be used to provide support to students desiring to study abroad.
- Gifts for international students will be used to support the Alec Courtelis Award and the Diane Fisher Award given to outstanding international students for their contributions to teaching, research and service to the campus and the community. These awards are presented to students during the International Student Academic Awards Ceremony once a year.
- Gifts intended for international interships will be used to help expand the international intership programs.
