Academic Support Services
UF offers numerous academic support services to help students achieve academic success. It is the student’s responsibility to seek these services. Below are a few services recommended for International Students:
Any UF student has the ability to utilize any of the 10 libraries at any time. The first time a student visits the UF libraries he or she must have their Gator 1 card activated at the circulation desk. Once this has been done, you will be able to check out books and other library materials for your personal use.
The library can be a valuable tool to help you reach academic success. The library offers general library tours and orientation, group instruction, and general library support.
Students have the option to chat live, online with a reference librarian from any location, and reference librarians are available at the locations to assist you.
The library also has a collection of videos and DVDs that can be checked out for your personal use.
Reading and Writing Center
The Reading and Writing Center (RWC) is committed to helping University of Florida students become better writers and readers. The office strives to support independent learning and encourage scholarship by fostering writing and reading skills. The office staff provides individual assistance to those wishing to develop their writing, better understand the writing process, and improve reading comprehension and study skills. Students of all levels and disciplines are welcome to visit the office.
If you are an English as a Second Language (ESL) student, you may visit the RWC to improve your writing skills. By working one-on-one with a writing tutor, you can receive assistance brainstorming, drafting, and revising your writing. In addition to answering questions about basic form and usage when writing in English, tutors can also provide support for larger writing projects such as thesis and dissertation chapters.
Computer Labs and Printing
There are several computer labs located on campus. You are able to use any computer on campus by logging in with your Gator 1 account. Lab printing is $.10 per page. Students are able to print 250 pages a semester for free in the Student Government lab located on the third floor in the Reitz Union.
