Chemical and Environmental Processes in the Theme Parks of Hong Kong

This course, proposed for summer 2007, will allow a relatively small number of undergraduates interested primarily in science and engineering to gain exposure to applied, project-oriented onsite research related to the chemical and environmental processes associated with theme park design and development. Hong Kong offers two sites for study, Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland. Studies will include critical examination of several Ocean Park marine habitats by addressing specific life support system performance using water chemistry assessment. At Disneyland, a broader study will address the environmental challenges of development with an eye toward air and water quality, and other infrastructure and transportation issues.
