International Student Services

Every year the University of Florida hosts some 3200 international students on its beautiful campus. International Student Services office at UF's International Center is committed to ensuring the integration of international students and families into the life of the University of Florida and the city of Gainesville. The staff at UFIC/ISS is here to assist you with making a smooth transition to American culture and student life at the University.

International Exchange Students

We are pleased that you have chosen to study at the University of Florida as an international exchange student. We hope that you will find this a rich and rewarding experience, as will the UF students who plan to study at your home institution.

International Student Speakers' Bureau

In response to a need expressed by area teachers, a group of international graduate students attended workshops and formed an International Student Speakers’ Bureau (ISSB). This diverse and qualified pool of speakers has grown into a central resource of students who are willing to share their culture and experiences with American school children.

Outreach

The Transnational & Global Studies Center in UFIC is committed to promoting global awareness both at the University of Florida and in the larger community. To that end we have created outreach programs aimed at sharing the beauty and importance of other cultures with area children. Our outreach has two main facets: teacher training through periodic workshops and student speakers. In response to a growing need, a group of international graduate students attended workshops and formed an International Student Speakers' Bureau (ISSB), creating a diverse and qualified pool of speakers available to make presentations at the schools throughout Gainesville and Alachua County.

International Student Handbook

We provide a handbook for international students. It is designed to help you achieve your academic goals and to live comfortably in our community. This is a reference of readily available information to which many persons including foreign students have contributed. We have not attempted to answer every possible question about life on campus and in the United States in this handbook. We hope however that after reading this handbook you will have a general overview of what to expect being an international student at the University of Florida.

Exchange Student Handbook

Similar to the International Student Handbook, this handbook is full of information that is very helpful for Exchange Students visiting the University of Florida.

Travel

This section provides legal and practical information on travel for international students at the University of Florida.
